Ludic city 2: Grounding game-play in the public environment
08/05/2013 18:00 – 20:30
IES, Pleinlaan 5, 1050 Brussel
A lecture on how game-play can be meaningfully embedded in public spaces
Please find the slides for my presentation Breaking the magic circle online and while you are here have a look at the VW Fun Theory video, the video on the NY Improv Everywhere flashmob/ARG and this animation about What Drives Us on intrinsic vs extrinsic rewards.
I had a wonderful and interesting evening at the SMIT lecture: Ludic City 2. It was really good to see people with such enthusiasm and dedication taking play outside of its usual frames. I was especially intrigued by Amani Naseem who, together with other game-designers, created new opportunities for play on the streets of Mali. Streets that are normally dominated by political expression and have turned unplayful.
Thank you very much for inviting me – Lizzy Bleumers & iMinds- and thank you for the artisan chocolate. It wont be making it back to Amsterdam.
